10am-12pm: Fly Over Your Fears!
1:30-3:30pm: Open Your Hips on Your Hands
Open Your Hips on Your Hands
Want to open your hips? Get on your hands! In this workshop we will explore different ways in which you can use gravity to help you open your hips. There are all sorts of hip opening inversions and arm balances to play with: firefly, compass, scorpion, grasshopper, kundinyasana, forearm variations, and the list goes on.
Spend two hours in this workshop laughing, learning, and sweating. See how opening your hips can in turn help you fly! Since your hips will be open, we’ll do a few backbends, too.
This workshop is for everyone with a yoga practice and sense of adventure, from beginning arm balancers to frequent flyers.
Fly over Your Fears
The scariest aspect of arm balances is usually the fear of falling. In this workshop, we will learn how to safely fall out of them into backbends and cartwheels. When the worst that can happen is a controlled fall, there is nothing to be afraid of and we can arm balance to our hearts’ content.
We will start by warming up our bodies, especially our core. Then we will break down the different ways to come into and fall out of handstands and forearm stands, first at the wall and then with partners. Once fears are abated, you will learn different ways to safely incorporate arm balances into your everyday practice with falling included!
There is no reason why you can’t use every transition as an opportunity to give your legs a break by using your hands and arms! This workshop will teach you how to make an arm balance just another pose or transition with nothing to sweat about and nothing to be afraid of.
This workshop is for everyone with a yoga practice and sense of adventure, from beginning arm balancers to frequent flyers.
