Missed hearing the ladies of Off The Gram Podcast this week? Don’t worry! We’ll be back next week, as we transition to an ‘every-other-week’ posting schedule in light of all of this social distancing. We are looking into Skype recordings, but do value the magic that happens IRL… so, we are working on this, and have some exciting things coming up, per usual. Stay tuned!
Here are some of Erika’s major takeaways from our chat:
1. Yoga teaches you that you are enough. No effort required. Remember this and show up exactly as who you are. Being yourself is the only way to be truly inspiring. Draw from your own experience, from what matters to you, what drives you.
2. Learning inversions and arm balances is a gift to build confidence, capability, strength, and independence.
3. Never make an important decision from the fight-flight-freeze mode.
4. Instead of forcing to get in a pose, feel your way into it. When you’re not balancing effort and ease you create disease.
5. Yoga is not a quick-fix pill, yoga is a long term sustaining fix. Here are 5 important tips when it comes to yoga and healing: A) Change your mindset around healing. Healing comes from the inside. If you believe you can heal you will. Your body follows what your mind tells it. B) Allow the nervous system to do its thing and heal: create space, slow down, soften, relax around the injury. C) Don’t do it alone but be the driver of your healing journey. Be an advocate for yourself while working with all the specialists you can lean on. D) Be patient and disciplined at the same time. E) Use the practice to strengthen your mental capacities and tap into your intuition so you know what’s best for you and your healing. You are the expert on you. No doctor in the world knows more about you and your body than you.

P.S. If you have multiple adults in your house, I have found a super FUN (not sponsored!) game to play once the kids are in bed! It’s called Fibbage, and it involves fooling the other players with your lies, avoiding theirs, and finding the (usually outrageous) truth. And get this: your phone or tablet is your controller!
Download it and join the fun!!!
