The Biggest Announcement of My Life

About a week ago, I made an announcement on my social media that excites and scares me more than anything I have ever done: I am pregnant! With twin girls!!

A family of my own is something I have wanted for quite some time, but the Universe knows all, and I trust that now is exactly the perfect time for me to start my family.  (Of course, we already have our wonderful rescue Chihuahua, Achilles – he was our first child!!)

It wasn’t the easiest of roads for me to get pregnant: my super lean yogi body simply didn’t have enough body fat to support a pregnancy, and getting it to a place that could was a long and difficult road (especially when people would ask me if I was pregnant well before I was simply because I had put on weight.  Yikes.)

Then, there was the first trimester: being so, so, soooo excited and not being able to share it! I am beyond grateful for the support that I have in my life, and all of the loving knowledge that surrounds me.

Symptoms? What symptoms?  People always ask: how do you feel? Are you sick? Honestly, I had about a week of nausea, and short of that, nothing that resembled the dreaded morning sickness. Whether or not that was pure luck, or the result of an incredibly balanced diet, as some nutritionists and experts suggest, I am incredibly grateful.  The one major change that I did notice was fatigue.  Growing humans is serious work, and I’m growing two, and quite frankly: it exhausts me!

What about physical activity?  From everything I have learned, the most important thing is not to introduce anything new and intense physically during pregnancy. It was a tricky balance for me, just getting a green light to play with my wrist again, and having had four months of not being able to do much, but I am working with my body and listening carefully.  For me, this means continuing all of the physical activities that I love and make me feel alive, but being very mindful and DEFNITELY taking them down several notches when necessary.  It has been a beautiful practice listening so intently to make sure my baby girls stay safe.

And, CrossFlowX? It’s true: in CrossFlowX, I have created everything I ever craved in a yoga experience.  Unfortunately for me, at the moment, the level of intensity and the abs (oh, the abs!) aren’t the greatest fit for pregnancy.  So, if you are in the NYC area, you may have noticed that I have scaled my schedule down quite a bit.  Luckily, we have an incredible team of CFX instructors stepping up and rocking it out at all of the classes at the Movement.

I have lots of other news, a super exciting partnership, and fun projects coming up – don’t worry – they aren’t ALL pregnancy related!  So, look out for another email with that soon!

Hope you are staying warm and happy wherever you are!

Xoxo,

Heidi
